When I was a kid, my father wanted me to be a singer, and my mother wanted me to be a classical dancer. I just wanted to grow up.

Then I grew up. They wanted me to be a doctor or engineer, just like all Indian middle-class parents, and I wanted to be a psychologist. I pursued my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bethune College, Kolkata. Then somehow, I ended up in an MNC, doing a 9-5 job. There I realized, this is not what I wanted to be, and after all these years, I found "ART" – the love of my life.

Yes, it took me this long to find my passion. After that, I started working on my skills all by myself. I began doing portraits, wall arts, abstract paintings, and more. During the pandemic, I made a portrait of my little sister. When I gave it to her, she said, "You owe me 200 rupees. You don't have to return me that money" and added with a wink, "If you are good at something, never do it for free." I must mention she was only 17 years old.

 

I took her seriously. And here I am. I left my 9-5 job to follow my passion.

 

In this journey there is another individual behind the scenes, without whom this would not have been possible. My best friend, my partner RAHUL KUMAR .We started Aakibuki Upohar in 2023 on Instagram and Started selling personalized illustrations. If I am the front face, he is the backbone. If I am the Aakibuki (scribble), he is the Upohar (gift).Today, we are happily running our small business with all your support and love.
